For the last year, your colleagues have been scheming to pass the biggest gun control package in a generation. But instead of going for it all with gun bans and confiscations, the Left is advancing what they call a "compromise" package.

Three bills, H.R. 8, H.R. 1112, and H.R. 5949 are designed to change the FBI's firearm background check system to finally give the government the power to create a registry of American gun owners.

World history teaches us that every time a tyrannical government has confiscated its people's firearms, they used a national registry to do it. We saw that in Nazi Germany, the USSR, China, and Venezuela, but also in democratic countries like Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the UK.

Gun confiscations are impossible without national registries.

H.R. 8 would require a background check on all firearm sales, purchases, and transfers. In order to take possession of a firearm, every American would have to first obtain permission from the Federal government.

H.R. 5949 would get rid of the requirement that the government destroy records of completed gun transfers. Right now, Federal law requires that background check forms be destroyed to ensure they cannot be used to create a gun registry. This bill would lift those blocks to allow for the creation of such a registry.

And lastly, H.R. 1112 would give the government the power to simply block gun purchases from happening all together. Right now, when someone goes into a gun store to buy a gun and submits the Form 4473 to the FBI for approval, the FBI has to give them a yes or no answer within 72 hours. If the government can't figure out a way to perform an "instant" check in three days, then the buyer is allowed to take the gun home anyway.

H.R. 1112 would eliminate these protections set the new deadline at 20 business days. And since the background check forms are only valid for one calendar month anyway, this means that the government would gain the ability to block millions of gun transfers every single year without ever needing to give a reason why...

This is the package that Nancy Pelosi wants to bring to the floor and force through both the House and the Senate.

Let me be absolutely clear: this is not a "compromise." This is deliberately designed to set the stage for future confiscations. The only reason to create a registry of American gun owners is to use it against them.

You need to understand that a vote for this package, or for any of these bills individually, is tantamount to a vote for gun confiscations.

You swore an oath to defend the Constitution against all enemies, both foreign and domestic. That includes the 2nd Amendment.

But if you support this radical plan to chip away at the 2nd Amendment, I will have no choice but to remove you from office!
