Breaking: GOPers Already Negotiating Surrender on 'Cheat-by-Mail' Legislation

Mitch McConnell blasted Nancy Pelosi's stunt over the weekend, promising that her Post Office bailout legislation would be "dead on arrival" in the Senate.

Democrats pulled another one of their stunts over the weekend. After a week of pushing conspiracy theories and lies about the Postal Service, Nancy Pelosi held a vote on the Delivering for America Act.

The legislation provides solutions to problems that do not exist. It would prohibit the Trump administration from making any changes to the USPS, specifically blocking the removal of unused letter sorting machines or public mailboxes. I will remind you Barack Obama's administration removed over 14,000 public mailboxes and shuttered entire mail processing facilities, and there wasn't a single accusation that he was trying to sabotage the election.

There is also no evidence that the USPS needs money. They have $14 billion cash on hand and a line of credit that will allow them to borrow another $10 billion if necessary. There is absolutely no reason to rush through $25 billion in no-strings-attached funding for the Postal Service, especially not on an emergency basis.

Like all things, this push has an ulterior motive. As you know, your Democrat colleagues want the 2020 election to be conducted by mail. They realize that with a little more than two months before election day, they are running out of time to make this a reality.

They want to force the USPS to continue operating unused letter sorting machines because they expect nationwide vote-by-mail legislation to pass, and for the USPS to be inundated with tens of millions more ballots than anticipated.

That is why they are fighting so hard for this. They have concocted a conspiracy theory that Donald Trump is sabotaging the USPS because if they don't stop the Postal Service from making these changes, they know that their nationwide vote-by-mail dream will be impossible to accomplish.

That is why your colleagues are lying and claiming that the removal of letter sorting machines is slowing down package delivery. That is why they are calling the removal of hundreds of unused public mailboxes a scandal when they ignored the 14,000+ removed under Obama.

You cannot give into these demands. The Postal Service does not need a cash infusion and the changes being made to streamline efficiency are not being done to sabotage the election.

You must block the Delivering for America Act, not just as a stand-alone bill, but also when Democrats try slipping the provisions into the upcoming coronavirus relief bill (which they are already promising to do).

And I want to reiterate that: this is not a fight over process, it is a fight over the substance of that bill. You cannot allow it to pass in any form, whether that be as a standalone bill or an amendment.

You also must continue blocking Nancy Pelosi's vote-by-mail provisions. You CANNOT allow universal mail-in voting to pass and you must block any and all attempts to outlaw voter ID or legalize ballot harvesting.

Let this serve as a warning: Any attempt to push through these radical vote-by-mail provisions will be interpreted as a violation of your oath and will result in your removal from office!
