When Congress passed the ban on armor piercing handgun ammunition in 1986, they promised that the law would never be applied to high-power rifle ammunition. They were wrong.

Over the past three decades, the ATF has taken a law concerned with officer safety and reinterpreted it to justify banning popular rifle ammunition... all in the name of gun control.

Now, the ATF is trying to ban popular AR-15 ammo and even ATF Director B. Todd Jones admits that all AR-15 ammo is dangerous and should be on the chopping block!

We may have won the battle, but we haven't won the war. We got the ATF to back down on its proposed ban of M855 AR-15 ammunition. But the ATF's decision has only angered gun control advocates on the Left. Liberals in the White House and Congress are working feverishly to find a way to get this ammo ban to stick.

Thanks to a bipartisan majority of Congress, the ATF backed down... for now.

Now is not the time to rest on our laurels. Now is the time to deliver a finishing blow to ensure we never have to fight this battle again.

The LEOPA Act of 1986 was clear that it only intended to ban armor piercing handgun ammunition. For three decades, Democrat regimes have reinterpreted the law to justify banning popular rifle calibers.

In the 1990s, the Clinton administration reclassified popular 7.63x39 rifle ammunition as handgun ammo so they could ban the importation of cheap surplus. The Obama administration did the same for 5.45x39 rifle ammunition in 2014.

First they came for the cheap ammunition used in AK-47s and now they want to ban AR-15 ammo. The only way to get this to stop is for you and your colleagues to pass the Ammunition and Firearms Protection Act.

This bill would ensure that the ATF can't simply reclassify rifle ammunition as pistol ammunition in order to ban it. Just recently, ATF Director B. Todd Jones admitted during a Congressional hearing that "any 5.56 round" is "a challenge for officer safety." The Left has taken the most popular rifle in America and attempted to redefine it as a "cop killer."

Enough is enough. I am tired of this administration doing everything in its power to restrict American gun ownership. You either stand with us or you stand against us. There's no middle ground. If you're with us, then you MUST pass this common sense legislation. If you refuse to sign on, then you are clearly against the American people and the U.S. Constitution...
