The ATF Director just resigned. Instead of waiting for Congress to appoint a new Director, they agency promoted one of its own to the position: Thomas Brandon.

The Director of the ATF just resigned. Instead of waiting for you and your colleagues to confirm a replacement, the ATF is promoting one of its own: Thomas Brandon.

On paper, this seems like a pretty basic appointment. He will be acting-Director of the ATF until Congress appoints someone else.

But here's the problem: Thomas Brandon was the ATF bureaucrat responsible for the Fast and Furious cover-up.

He was the one charged with punishing those responsible for the failed gun-walking operation.

U.S. Border Agent Brian Terry, I.C.E. Agent Jaime Zapata and an untold number of Mexicans were murdered by those unlawfully trafficked firearms. Someone had to pay for this.

The obvious choice for a firing was William Newell, the agent in charge of the operation. But he was never fired. He was reassigned.

All in all, the DOJ Inspector General's report highlighted 14 ATF bureaucrats that deserved to be fired for what they did. In testimony before the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, former-Director Jones admitted that Thomas Brandon was the "ultimate decision maker" on choosing who to punish.

Thomas Brandon didn't fire anyone. Not one person.

In return for these employees keeping quiet, they were allowed to keep their jobs. This is a classic tactic used by the Obama administration to silence potential whistleblowers.

Now, this man is the acting-Director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives. He will have a say over what types of ammunition and weapons are targeted to be banned.

You MUST remove him from office and replace him with someone who will respect the Second Amendment rights of Americans, not try to infringe on them! The Director of the ATF should not be occupied by an individual responsible for covering up the worst ATF scandal in decades!
