The worst provisions of the Patriot Act are set to expire in just a few weeks. If this happens, the NSA will lose its ability to spy on innocent Americans and government agents will once again be forced to respect Americans' Fourth Amendment rights.

However, Mitch McConnell is going to force a vote on legislation to renew the Patriot Act through the year 2020. He promised to defend your Constitutional rights and now he has stabbed you in the back.

Talk is cheap. These Republicans promised to defend your Constitutional rights and now that the opportunity has presented itself, they've forgotten all about their promises.

Well, it is up to YOU to remind them of the oath they took. It is up to you to demand that this unconstitutional law be sent to the ash heap of history where it belongs!

When you were sworn in, you took an oath to defend the United States Constitution against all enemies, both foreign and domestic. As a reminder, that includes ALL of the Bill of Rights.

The worst provisions of the Patriot Act are set to expire in a matter of weeks. On June 1st, the NSA will no longer be able to wantonly spy on innocent Americans and government agents will once again be forced to respect citizens' Fourth Amendment rights.

Here are the provisions that are set to expire...

Section 215: This part of the law is what grants the NSA the power to spy on Americans and collect cell phone and internet records. If this provision expires, the NSA loses the authority to spy on innocent Americans. Every keystroke we make and call we make is catalogued. This is the best chance we have of reining in the NSA and putting a stop to this unconstitutional surveillance.

Lone Wolf Provision: This is what allows law enforcement to bend the rules and violate the Constitution. Claiming that an individual is a "lone wolf terrorist" gives law enforcement unprecedented powers to surveil and apprehend individuals by side-stepping the Fourth Amendment.

Roving Wiretap Provision: This part of the law is what is known as Section 206. Imagine if the FBI had the authority to, with a single search warrant, raid every house or business you have been to or associated with in the past year. Well, stop imagining because this is exactly what Section 206 does. It's completely unconstitutional.

These three provisions are set to expire. Yet, Mitch McConnell has introduced legislation to renew them through the year 2020.

It's time to stop kicking the can down the road. You MUST allow the Patriot Act to die.

I know you have given speeches and promised to protect Americans' Constitutional rights. Well, talk is cheap.

You can't promise to rein in government abuse and simultaneously renew the government's authority to abuse us. Anyone who supports renewing the Patriot Act is against the Constitution. Period.

We the People are watching how you vote and we will act accordingly if you vote to renew this unconstitutional law.
