Gun control laws claimed another innocent life in this country.

Carol Browne was looking to purchase a firearm to protect herself againse her abusive ex-boyfriend, but New Jersey refused to give it to her. Even though background checks are instantaneous, New Jersey forced this woman to wait a month and a half for her permit just to own a gun.

Unfortunately, the state took too long. Carol Browne was stabbed to death in her driveway.

This is unacceptable. A right delayed is a right denied! The only way to put a stop to this madness is an Act of Congress and the only way that can ever happen is if you demand it!

A right delayed is a right denied. The Second Amendment to the United States Constitution says that the American people have a right to keep and bear arms. That means now. Not in 48 hours... not after months-long application processes... but now.

In New Jersey, Carol Browne learned this lesson the hard way. She filed a restraining order against her abusive ex-boyfriend. However, she knew that words on a piece of paper weren't going to keep her safe. She applied for a permit to purchase a handgun and even though the law requires the application to be processed within a month, nearly two months later she was still without her permit.

Unfortunately, it was too late. She was stabbed to death in her driveway by, you guessed it, her ex-boyfriend.

New Jersey isn't the only state violating the Second Amendment.

California forces you to wait ten days to take ownership of a handgun. Hawaii won't let you get a purchase permit until you've been approved for over 2 weeks. Illinois and Florida both have 72 hour waiting periods. This is not to mention states like New York and Maryland that take forever just to get permission to own a gun.

Enough is enough. These laws don't stop crime. They only create victims.

If someone has an urgent need for self-defense, then these waiting times are clearly unconstitutional.

Wisconsin is about to do away with its 48-hour waiting period. But not all states are willing to comply with the Constitution on their own. It is up to you and your colleagues to protect the civil rights of all Americans and force states to abandon these unconstitutional gun restrictions.

There's no telling that a gun would have saved Carol Browne's life... but she would have stood a chance. The fact that you let these unconstitutional gun laws to exist on the state level is shameful.
