The United States Trade Representative just announced that the votes are there in Congress to pass the job killing Trans-Pacific Partnership trade agreement.

Money is already starting to pour in from corporate lobbyists and donors, urging Congress to sell out the American people and pass the agreement.

Donald Trump has promised to veto any TPP bill that reaches his desk. Hillary Clinton has reluctantly come out against the agreement after she was shamed by Trump and Bernie Sanders. That is why Congress is rushing to get this horrible trade agreement passed during its lame-duck session.

The Trans-Pacific Partnership is bad for America. That is why both conservatives and liberals oppose it.

TPP is a job killer.

Michigan lost 214,000+ jobs in 2015 alone because of our trade deficit with TPP countries. Ohio lost 112,500 jobs. Pennsylvania lost 70,000 jobs. The list goes on and on...

It TPP passes, these Asian countries will be able to dump even more of their products onto the American market to put domestic manufacturers out of business. You and your colleagues even expanded the Trade Adjustment Assistance program to help retrain American workers negatively affected (read: fired) because of TPP.

Not only would TPP kill jobs, but it would allow foreign corporations to sue the United States government any time a law is passed or regulation is enacted that hurts their bottom line.

Most recently, the investors behind the Keystone XL pipeline have sued the US Government for $15 Billion to recoup lost profits after the Obama administration killed the project. This lawsuit was made possible by Chapter 11 of the North American Free Trade Agreement.

TPP would expand this practice to dozens of Asian countries as well. Foreign corporations should not hold sway over American governance.

Donald Trump opposes TPP. With his rise in the polls over recent days, corporate lobbyists are now doubling down to get TPP passed before the next President takes the oath of office. The US Trade Representative has announced that the votes are there for passage.

I am writing to make sure you understand that under no circumstances can you vote to pass TPP. You need to understand that a vote for TPP is tantamount to political suicide.

You represent the American people that would be killed by TPP, not the corporations that would benefit from this agreement.

Any Congressman or Senator who votes to pass TPP, or any of its accompanying bills, will be removed from office. That is not a threat, it is a promise.
