The House of Representatives has passed the Veterans 2nd Amendment Protection Act. It would roll back a regulation that disarmed over 800,000 veterans without a hearing or any due process.

It would strip the VA of its authority to be judge and jury and would force the Department to bring individual cases to a judge when they believe a Veteran poses a threat to themself or others. If passed, these hundreds of thousands of disarmed Veterans would have their constitutional rights restored.

The Left is already promising to filibuster this. They want as many Veterans disarmed as possible.

These men and women answered the call and took up arms to protect you and your way of life. When they got home, the government took away their arms.

It's time for you, me, and every patriot in this country to answer the call to protect them right now!

This past week, the House of Representatives passed the Veterans 2nd Amendment Protection Act. It rolls back a policy spanning multiple Presidents that allows the VA to disarm a Veteran and eliminate his or her 2nd Amendment rights without any due process.

Since the George W Bush Presidency, more than 800,000 Veterans have been disarmed for no reason other than the fact that they checked a box asking for permission for a family member or friend to help them manage their finances.

The VA used this assignment of a representative payee and determined that the Veterans were "mentally defective" with "sub-human intelligence" since they were "incapable of managing their affairs." The list of these Veterans was sent to the FBI to be added to the NICS database as prohibited persons.

If they try to buy a gun, they'd be committing felonies. If their firearms were registered, they were forced to sell or surrender them.

There were no hearings. There was no due process. And yet, 800,000+ Veterans - heroes - had their constitutional right revoked because of paperwork technicalities and financial illiteracy.

There are probably some Veterans in this group who should not own guns. The Veterans 2nd Amendment Protection Act allows the VA to petition a judge if they believe that a vet poses a threat to himself or others.

But the solution cannot be to simply disarm them all.

Additionally, many Veterans deliberately avoid getting medical treatment for fear that they will be disarmed. These vets should not be forced to choose between maintaining a right to self-defense and getting treated...

These brave men and women took up arms to protect our rights. Now it is time to protect theirs.

I am urging you to do everything in your power to see this bill passed. That includes going through the reconciliation process ("No federal funds can be used at the VA or FBI to disarm any Veteran or American without due process of law") or attaching it to a must-pass spending bill.

Simply voting for this bill isn't enough. You need to fight for it all the way until it reaches Pres. Trump's desk. Our Veterans deserve that much...
