The Sportsmen's Heritage and Recreational Enhancement (S.H.A.R.E) Act would do a number of important things, including dismantling an outdated 83-year-old gun control law. Instead of purchasing suppressors the way they did in 1934 - lengthy paper-based background checks - the SHARE Act would digitize the process and allow purchasers to go through the FBI's instant background check system.

This is simply common sense. If the FBI can perform a background check in minutes for just a couple bucks, it makes no sense for purchasers to have to pay the ATF $200 and wait months for a response.

Another piece of legislation that your colleagues are trying to add to the bill as an amendment is the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act. This bill would enable people licensed and permitted to carry firearms for self defense in one state to do so in every state. Not only that, but it would dismantle the last eight states' may-issue concealed carry laws that prohibit their citizens from defending themselves in public.

These are major policy changes that are much needed. These would modernize gun laws in America and ensure that Americans have the right to self-defense without needing to prove a good reason or jump through hoops to gain reciprocity.

However, Paul Ryan is trying to strip these provisions from the S.H.A.R.E. Act. He is telling Rep. Duncan that the only way this legislation gets a vote is if the pro-gun provisions are removed and replaced by Dianne Feinstein's latest gun ban proposal.

I understand that you probably have strategists and pollsters whispering in your ear and warning you not to pass pro-2nd Amendment legislation.

I just need you to understand that if you listen to them and kill these provisions, you will have lost my support, along with the rest of the gun owners who voted for you.

For years, we have heard the GOP swear up and down that if they just had majorities in Congress and the Presidency, things would change.

Well, now you have both. Either honor your oath to protect and defend Americans' 2nd Amendment rights or I will replace you with someone who will. That's not a threat, it's a promise.
