Yesterday, a jury found Kate Steinle's killer not guilty of murder or manslaughter, even though he admitted to shooting her.

Because he was found not guilty, there's no guarantee that San Francisco will even hand him over to the Feds when his lesser sentence is completed.

The Justice system failed the Steinle family.

Jose Ines Garcia Zarate admitted to police that he shot and killed Kate Steinle on a San Francisco pier back in 2015. Yet, even with this confession, the jury just found him not guilty of killing her (either intentionally or involuntarily).

This is an absolute travesty.

But do you know what is also a travesty? The fact that you have still not sent Kate's Law or a bill to defund sanctuary cities to Pres. Trump's desk.

Kate's Law is pretty common sense. If an illegal alien felon is caught re-entering the United States, they would face a mandatory minimum of five years behind bars. When the illegal alien is released and deported, if they're caught in the United States again, their sentence jumps to 10 years. If they do it again, it jumps to 20 years.

But this legislation is only half the battle. The other half is going after the sanctuary cities that provide cover for these illegal alien criminals. Right now, there is legislation before Congress that would defund any city or state that refuses to cooperate with immigration investigations. If this bill passes, then San Francisco would lose millions in law enforcement grants. Why should we give them law enforcement grants if they won't help enforce immigration law?

These are common sense solutions to the sanctuary city policies that are plaguing this country and they would ensure that tragedies like the Kate Steinle murder are less likely to occur in the future.

Except, your party leadership isn't focused on this. Instead, they are working to make Barack Obama's amnesty permanent.

Let me make something absolutely clear. The only immigration mandate you have is to crack down on these criminals and those who harbor them, not start handing out amnesty.
