Well, guess what. There were four armed police officers on the scene at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. Instead of rushing in to protect the students, they hid behind their cars in the parking lot.

And the Left has the gall to say WE can't be trusted with firearms?!?

The lessons from the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School are clear. At every level and every stage, the government failed the community. The local sheriff and FBI were both warned that Cruz was going to shoot up a school. They did nothing.

Four armed police officers were on the scene and could have engaged the shooter to stop the massacre. Instead, they stayed in the parking lot and hid behind their cars, listening to gun shots ringing out in the school buildings.

Why on earth are you allowing your colleagues to prioritize disarming ME?

We should be talking about how to make sure law enforcement agencies don't drop the ball the next time something like this happens. Instead, there is now a debate over whether I should have to surrender my arms.

The Broward County Sheriff had the gall to criticize American gun owners for not surrendering our rights after this tragedy. The reality is it was his deputies who refused to act on the warning calls and his deputies who hid behind their cars in the parking lot instead of trying to save lives.

How is any of this my fault? How is it relevant what I or other Americans have in their gun safes?

There are a number of proposals before you that can help save lives. Not by taking away Americans' rights, but by empowering communities to defend themselves.

First of all, you need to amend the Gun Free School Zones Act to exempt teachers and school staffers. Give qualified school employees the right to carry firearms so that the next time one of these attacks happen, they have the power to stop it. When seconds count, police are minutes away.

Next, you need to pass the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act and empower law-abiding, licensed Americans to defend themselves nationwide. It is currently impossible for anyone other than retired law enforcement to carry a gun in all 50 states. Concealed carry permit holders are some of the most law-abiding people in the country. Communities are safer when responsible people are armed. The CCRA passed the House last year with the Fix NICS bill attached as an amendment. Put it on President Trump's desk as written!

These are two steps you can take right now. Not to take rights away from law-abiding Americans, but to empower them to defend themselves and their communities!

But if you join this misguided push to disarm Americans and restrict the 2nd Amendment, you will be removed from office.
