What? GOP Leadership Might Block Fast & Furious Documents

It has been almost a decade, but Congress is finally going to get the documents on the Obama administration's Fast and Furious gun-walking scandal. These are the documents that then-Attorney General Eric Holder tried to hide from Congress. Now, they are finally being released to Congress.

But the GOP leadership is snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell are considering burying the documents.

These are the same cowards who stepped in to save Lois Lerner, IRS Commissioner John Koskinen, and even Hillary Clinton from prosecution. They think it is time to move on and just forget about the Obama administration's crimes.

This scandal cost innocent lives... innocent lives on both sides of the border. Murdered Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry's family deserves better than this.

Don't let them sweep this under the rug!

It has been almost 10 years since Operation Fast and Furious launched. In that time, we learned a lot about the lengths the Obama administration would go to, not only to bolster their gun control arguments but also to cover up their crimes.

Make no mistake: Fast and Furious was a gun control operation. It was designed to lend legitimacy to Obama's gun control agenda. If they could prove that Mexican cartels were trafficking American guns across the border, they could then crack down on it.

That is exactly what they did. They launched a new policy that creates a registry of every American gun owner who purchases more than one gun at a time.

But Fast and Furious went horribly wrong. Instead of stopping the guns from crossing the border, the Obama administration forgot to arrest them. It didn't take long for these trafficked guns to start showing up at crime scenes on BOTH sides of the border.

Then, Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry was murdered with one of the Fast and Furious guns. Instead of admitting to their failure, the Obama administration went into cover-up mode. Then-Attorney General Eric Holder refused to hand over documents to Congress. Barack Obama even used executive privilege to cover it up, going so far as to even hide emails between Holder and his mother...

You and your colleagues held Holder in Contempt of Congress. Not surprisingly, Eric Holder decided not to prosecute himself.

Now, the Trump administration is finally going to release to you the documents that Holder withheld. Already, many of your colleagues are advocating sweeping it all under the rug. They want to move past the crimes of the Obama administration.

You need to stand firm on this. Release all the documents to the public. Full transparency. And then, you need to re-send the Eric Holder's criminal referral to the Trump DOJ.

After nearly a decade, it is time to give the American people, and Brian Terry's family, justice and closure. That includes holding all of the Obama criminals accountable.

It is time for you to finish this or get out of the way and let someone else do your job.
