The Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act is common sense. It would fill the gaps in the country's patchwork reciprocity system and restore the right to carry for tens of millions of Americans -- 25% of the entire population -- living in anti-gun states.

You must put this bill onto President Trump's desk for signature. Your pathway to re-election requires it.

For far too long, anti-gun states have been allowed to completely ban concealed carry within their borders. They refuse to honor out-of-state permits, even if the carrier has more training than police officers, and flat out reject carry permits from their own residents.

For well over a century, states like Massachusetts, Maryland, New York, New Jersey, California and Hawaii have flat out rejected any and all concealed carry permits. The 2nd Amendment doesn't exist there. Illinois and Washington DC were forced, kicking and screaming, to start accepting permit applications, but they still refuse to honor carry permits from out-of-state.

A quarter of all Americans are barred from carrying for self defense in their home states, not because they aren't trustworthy, but because state officials disagree with the right to bear arms entirely. Unless you are a police officer, it is also impossible to legally carry in all fifty states.

The Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act fixes all of that.

A decade ago, Congress passed a bill granting nationwide reciprocity to police officers. The logic was that if they were trained to carry in one state, then they should be allowed to carry in all states.

Now it is time for you to grant the same reciprocity to law abiding Americans as well.

The Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act not only grants nationwide reciprocity to the tens of millions of Americans who are licensed to carry, but it gives Americans living in anti-gun states a pathway to exercising their 2nd Amendment rights as well.

This is the biggest civil rights bill to come along in a generation. And yet, it has collected dust for well over a year.

There is no pathway to re-election without passing this bill. We have a once in a lifetime chance, right now, to restore the right to carry to all law-abiding Americans in all 50 states.
