The GOP leadership is rushing forward with their plan to defund President Trump's border wall project.

Right now, there are construction crews in California, Texas, Arizona, and New Mexico surveying and constructing the border wall. President Trump was able to move funding around to get the project started.

President Trump has figured out how to move money around and get started on the border wall early. Currently, there are surveyors and construction crews at work in California, Texas, Arizona, and New Mexico working on the border wall project.

But in just a couple weeks at the end of the fiscal year, that funding will run out.

Over the past couple weeks, some of your colleagues have been conspiring to defund the border wall next year. Even though President Trump has threatened a government shutdown if the wall is not authorized, they think they can call his bluff.

Mitch McConnell has added the Department of Homeland Security Appropriations Act to the Senate Calendar and it does NOT fund the border wall. It authorizes funds for fence upgrades and expansion, but not for wall construction.

In the House, we are seeing GOP leaders lose all courage and decide to bail on the wall as well.

But not only are they trying to block future wall construction, they want to pull the rug out from under the projects going on right now.

The border wall project in New Mexico, for example, broke ground in early April. Since then, the contractors have built roughly half of the 20 miles of new border wall. They will not finish their project before the fiscal year ends on September 30.

If this Ryan-McConnell border surrender plot succeeds, not only would the wall be defunded next year, but this New Mexico project would be stopped in its tracks.

It's shameful. But it's equally shameful that you allowed it to even get this far.

You need to get this border wall funding re-added to the appropriations package. I don't care what it takes. If you fail, or refuse to even try, you will be removed from office.

This is your chance to put the American people first. You will not get an opportunity after the midterm elections.
