And yet, the legislation is still collecting dust. The GOP leadership doesn't want reciprocity to pass. They are desperately trying to run out the clock on this.

It is absolutely shameful watching you sit on the biggest civil rights bill in a generation.

The Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act is the most common sense gun bill to be introduced in a long time. The legislation would require that states treat carry permits the same way they treat driver's licenses. If someone is licensed, permitted, or allowed to carry a concealed firearm in one state, that right would be extended nationwide.

But more importantly, this bill would tear down more than a century of state level anti-gun laws that have kept Americans from exercising their rights.

Right now, residents of California, Maryland, Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, Hawaii, Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Delaware are forced to get down on their knees and beg for the privilege to bear arms in public for self defense. In most cases, their applications are denied. Not because they broke the law, but rather because the police chiefs and judges in charge don't believe in the right to bear arms.

These systems are called "may issue" carry schemes. If you apply and meet all of the statutory criteria, you still only may be accepted...

HR.38 would change all of that. Not only would it grant full nationwide reciprocity to people with current concealed carry permits, but it would allow residents in these anti-gun states to bypass their local governments and use a non-resident carry permit from another state to carry across the country... including in their home state.

This is the biggest civil rights bill to come along in a generation. We are talking about restoring civil rights to a quarter of all Americans.

The real question is, why won't you stand for the 2nd Amendment? Why are you letting the Congressional leadership stall like this?

The GOP leadership has promised to pass the bill. President Trump has promised to sign it. The majority of Congressmen and Senators in DC come from states that recognize the right to carry. And yet, you are going to let this legislation die...

If you do not put the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act onto President Trump's desk before the end of this Congress, I swear that you will regret it.
Gun reform must be a compromise. Earlier this year, you and your colleagues expanded on the background check system to make sure that criminals and the mentally ill don't fall through the cracks. You passed this provision through the last omnibus spending package.

Now that the background check system is shored up, it only makes sense to protect the rights of people who pass those background checks.

I am demanding that you complete the compromise. Put the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act onto Trump's desk before the end, by any means necessary. I don't care what it takes. If you have to attach it to a must-pass spending bill, so be it. The Framers gave you the power of the purse for a reason. If you support the 2nd Amendment, you will use it before it's too late..

If you allow the leadership to continue blocking this common sense pro-gun bill, then I will have no choice but to assume you are an enemy of the 2nd Amendment... and remove you from office.
