For decades, politicians in both parties have promised to secure the southern border. Every President since Ronald Reagan has been forced to deploy troops to the border to stop waves of illegal aliens from entering.

This is a crisis. The fact that the border remains unsecured is a disgrace.

President Trump is using his statutory powers under the National Emergencies Act of 1976 and his Constitutional powers as Commander in Chief to rectify this by reprogramming discretionary funding. And the President's plan is common sense.

$600 million will come from the Treasury Department's drug forfeiture fund, $2 billion will come from a Pentagon program designed to stop drugs from pouring across the border, and $3.6 billion is being reprogrammed from the MILCON fund. All of this is germane. You gave the Executive branch funding to stop the flow of illegal drugs and to finance military construction projects to protect our national security. The border wall does both.

I know you are receiving tremendous pressure to block Trump's declaration. You are being hounded by open border radicals who want nothing more than to keep flooding the country with more illegal aliens.

But you don't serve those business interests and you certainly weren't elected to protect illegal aliens. You serve the American people.

You must allow President Trump to secure the border by any means necessary. That means protecting his national emergency order and killing the Pelosi-Schumer Resolution of Disapproval.
