Democrats are trying to sneak through a gun confiscation provision that would allow the government to permanently revoke someone's right to keep and bear arms for non-violent misdemeanor offenses.

Democrats were just caught slipping massive gun confiscation provisions into the otherwise uncontroversial Violence Against Women Act.

Their provision would expand Federal gun confiscation and 2nd Amendment suspension laws to include non-violent misdemeanors like harassment or stalking.

The bar for disarmament is deliberately set high. Our right to keep and bear arms is God-given. Government needs to prove a good reason to revoke a God-given right.

Current law suspends someone's 2nd Amendment rights for felonies and violent domestic violence misdemeanors. This isn't controversial.

What Gun Control Democrats are trying to do, however, is expand this to include non-violent misdemeanors and change the definition of what relationships qualify as "domestic."

Instead of applying to current spouses or domestic partnerships, the new bill would grant gun disarmament powers to former spouses and significant others no longer living with the accused. And instead of having to prove that someone physically hurt them, accusers would be able to get someone's guns taken away simply by claiming they were being harassed.

I shouldn't have to tell you how dangerous this is. If the government is allowed order confiscation raids for non-violent misdemeanors like harassment, then gun ownership ceases to be a right and becomes a privilege.

H.R. 1585, as written, requires permanent, life-long disarmament for non-violent misdemeanor offenses. It unreasonably expands the Violence Against Women Act to give jilted ex-lovers the power to ruin people's lives.

You CANNOT allow these radical gun control provisions to reach President Trump's desk. I don't care what it takes or how much political capital it costs. You must strip these gun control provisions before it is too late!

If you pass this gun confiscation plan as-written, then you are an enemy of the 2nd Amendment and you must be removed from office!
