Rep Ted Deutch just reintroduced the Jake Laird Act, a radical gun confiscation bill that would put innocent American gun owners in the crosshairs.

Some of your colleagues are claiming that this is a "compromise."

Let me make something absolutely clear: there is no compromising on the 2nd Amendment. The 2nd Amendment exists to prohibit you from compromising on Americans' gun rights.

And this isn't even a compromise. There's no give and take. The only "compromise" is that instead of confiscating all Americans' guns, this bill would only go after some Americans' guns...

This is unacceptable. Red Flag bills like the Jake Laird Act are flagrantly unconstitutional.

Federal law already gives police all of the tools they need to disarm dangerous people. They can charge them with a crime or adjudicate them mentally defective.

What this bill does is allow police and prosecutors to use "hearsay" in order get confiscation orders. Spiteful exes, family members, and neighbors only need to tell police that they think a gun owner is dangerous and that would be enough to get the confiscation order. This is unconscionable and if you pass this bill, it will be abused and innocent people will lose their rights.

The government already has all of the tools it needs to disarm dangerous individuals.  Extreme Risk Protection Orders are not the answer. Giving the government the power to disarm innocent people is not the answer.

As I said, this is precisely why the 2nd Amendment was written and if you can't see that, then you are the one that the Founders warned us about...

If you dare vote for Graham's bill, or any other Extreme Risk Protection Order proposal, I will not rest until you are removed from office.
