Before October 1, you must pass a new Department of Homeland Security Appropriations Act. Under the budget deal that was reached earlier this year, this is supposed to be a clean appropriations process. Democrats and Republicans agreed not to include any poison pills in the bills.

But House Democrats are now reneging on that deal. Pelosi and Hoyer are now calling on the Senate to pass the House's version of the DHS spending bill. They are refusing to budge and remove the poison pills.

As you know, one of those poison pills is found in Section 227 and states that "no Federal funds may be used for the construction of physical barriers along the southern land border of the United States during fiscal year 2020."

This amendment is so radical, that it would even prohibit Border Patrol from repairing damaged fencing. If a smuggler cuts a hole in the border wall, then Border Patrol would have to leave that hole there for the entire year. This is madness.

Right now, there are 450 miles of approved and funded border wall construction projects set to be completed in 2020. But if this amendment survives, then those projects would be shut down.

You CANNOT allow this to happen!

This is our National Security that we're talking about, here.
