While the media is focusing on "impeachment," your colleagues are using this opportunity to advance their gun ban and confiscation bill.

The Judiciary Committee is holding a hearing today on the Assault Weapons Ban of 2019, the most radical gun ban ever introduced.

The legislation would ban well over a hundred million semi-automatic firearms. These firearms aren't more dangerous than any other. Americans have lawfully owned semi-automatic guns for over 120 years.

But this legislation would roll back the clock and make 19th Century firearms technology off-limits to civilians... And it gets worse. Rep. Eric Swalwell is introducing an amendment that would actually confiscate these guns from law abiding gun owners through mandatory buy backs.

The Left, however, is offering the GOP a compromise. Instead of banning and confiscating everyone's guns, they are offering to settle for a universal gun owner registry.

That is what their universal background check bill is designed to do. If you give the government a record every time a firearm changes hands in this country, then the government would know who owns what guns. That's the whole point.

Every time that a country has created a registry of its gun owners, that database has eventually been used to confiscate their firearms. Registration always leads to confiscation.

The Left knows they don't have the votes to confiscate everyone's guns. So, they are asking you to help them advance their cause and give the government the power to create this registry.

This is not a compromise. You can't compromise with people who want to confiscate tens of millions of firearms. There is no "half-way" when it comes to civilian disarmament.

I am demanding that you kill these gun control bills. You must block the Assault Weapons Ban of 2019 and any other gun control "compromise" bill that emerges.

You swore an oath to defend my 2nd Amendment rights. If you won't do that, then you will be removed from office and replaced with someone who will!
