With all eyes on this impeachment hysteria, your colleagues believe the timing is right to push through a gun control "compromise" plan.

Republicans have rejected the proposed gun ban and confiscation bills. But instead of holding the line, the GOP is offering to meet gun grabbers halfway. They are offering to finally allow the government to create a registry of American gun owners.

World History shows us that whenever countries force their citizens to register their firearms, that information is eventually used to confiscate them. Registration always leads to confiscation.

That is why our background system is currently limited to guns purchased through Federal firearm dealers. Your predecessors understood how dangerous it would be to let the government monitor all firearm sales or transfers, so private sales were deliberately excluded from the background check law.

But now, establishment Republicans are telling Democrats they are willing to compromise. Instead of authorizing confiscations, the GOP is offering to lay the foundation with this registration plan.

The Federal government would be notified every time a gun changes hands. All private sales and transfers would be added to the FBI's NICS system. And the proposal would require that sellers create and maintain a Bill of Sale documenting exactly what gun was sold/transferred, and make those records available to the government whenever requested.

This is what the anti-gun Left has always wanted. This "compromise" would give the government the power to know who owns what guns. The only reason the government would ever need that information is to launch a confiscation program.

If you vote for this compromise bill, you are voting to enable nationwide confiscations. That is simply a fact.

I am demanding that you kill this bill. There is no such thing as a "compromise" when one side literally wants to abolish civilian gun ownership. Anything you give them is just one step towards their confessed goal.

You swore an oath to uphold and defend the Constitution. Whether you like it or not, that includes the 2nd Amendment. A vote for any of these gun control bills is a violation of your Oath of Office, and oath breakers will be removed...
