Prosecutors in New Jersey are now going after Mike Harky, an Iraq War Veteran and Purple Heart recipient, because he brought two 30-round magazines home with him after he left the Marine Corps.

He doesn't own an AR-15 or any bullets to put in the magazines, and they have been left untouched in his attic ever since he got home. But prosecutors want to make an example of this man and send him to prison for 36 months!

Mike Harky is not a household name, but put everything on the line to defend this country. Harky served in the Marine Corps for 8 years before he was injured by an improvised explosive device.

After receiving the Purple Heart, Harky was discharged from the Corps. He turned in his rifle and gas mask, but was told he could keep the rest of his gear. So, he had his footlocker shipped back home to New Jersey.

Since then, he has started a family and a small business that employs 12 people. While his first marriage failed, he has an 8 year old son who is currently a heart transplant patient.

But during a recent custody dispute with his ex-wife, Harky became the subject of a Temporary Restraining Order. Police showed up at his home to take possession of his shotgun and the footlocker from his military deployment. Harky ultimately won 50% custody of his son and had the TRO dropped.

However, when he arrived at the Police Station to retrieve his property, he was arrested instead. You see, Police found two 30-round magazines in his footlocker from his time in the Corps. The magazines haven't been touched since he returned home and they are still caked in dirt and sand from the Iraqi desert. Mike Harky doesn't even own a gun or ammunition necessary to use the magazines. He forgot they were even in his attic.

For possessing these two harmless magazines, even unknowingly, he is now facing 36 months in prison.

It is disgusting that prosecutors would treat a disabled veteran like this. But I am even more disgusted that YOU have even allowed it to get this far.

Mike Harky literally put his life on the line to protect you. He survived a roadside bomb, only to return home and face prosecution for souvenirs from his time in the Corps.
