Last week, an illegal alien named Juan Sanchez struck and killed Annette Bear, a 52-year-old woman who was walking on the side of the road in Denver, CO. Instead of providing aid, the illegal alien fled the scene.

When police found him, they learned that he had SIX previous convictions and a history of drunk driving. And just a week before this fatal accident, the illegal alien was arrested in another Colorado city on drunk driving charges.

Enough is enough. This man should have been locked up a long time ago. If Congress had passed Kate's Law, Sanchez would be behind bars and Annette Bear would still be alive.

But neither Republicans nor Democrats believe this legislation is a priority anymore...

Last week, Annette Bear was walking home from the grocery store with her husband in Denver when she was struck and killed by an SUV. The driver fled the scene on foot. Police apprehended the suspect and identified him as Juan Sanchez, an illegal alien who has already been deported six times with a history of drunk driving arrests.

Just days before this fatal accident, Sanchez was arrested in another Colorado town after police saw him drive the wrong way into a parking lot. When they administered the breathalyzer test, his blood alcohol level came back at 0.183, more than twice the legal limit. But instead of turning Sanchez over to ICE, the local sheriff released him.

And now, an innocent woman is dead.

You had the power to stop this. If you had passed Kate's Law, Juan Sanchez would have been behind bars and Annette Bear would still be alive.

Kate's Law is simple. If a previously-deported illegal alien is caught re-entering the United States, they would face a 2-year prison sentence. If they have multiple deportations, then the minimum sentence jumps to 10 years behind bars.

Any illegal alien with a criminal record (3+ misdemeanors or 1 or more felonies) would face a 10-year minimum as well. And if they had previously committed violent crimes with lengthy prison sentences, then their mandatory minimum would go all the way up to 25 years in prison.

This is common sense. When police catch illegal alien repeat criminals with a history of deportations, they should be locked up, not released to victimize more Americans.

But for some reason, neither Republicans nor Democrats believe this is a priority. Even as more and more Americans die at the hands of illegal alien repeat criminals, this bill still collects dust in Congress.

You swore an oath to help protect your constituents. You need to remember that you serve the American people, not illegal alien criminals.

There is no excuse not to pass this common sense bill.
