Earlier this month, you and your colleagues approved a radical spending amendment that will allow the CDC to once again advocate for more gun control. For 23 years, the CDC has been blocked from using tax dollars to research gun control.

But after Democrats struck a deal with the GOP, that funding has now been restored..

Republicans and Democrats are now eager to keep going. They think that they can get away with passing more gun control laws. I am writing to warn you that they are wrong.

The plan is to pass two pieces of legislation.

The first bill is H.R. 8, the Bipartisan Background Checks Act. This legislation would require Americans to notify the Federal government anytime a firearm changes hands. It doesn't matter whether it is bought through a dealer, sold privately, or just transferred between friends, the government would have a record of it. There is only one reason for the government to have a database of American gun owners, and that is to confiscate their firearms... World history teaches us that whenever a country has created such a registry, that database was eventually used to carry out mass confiscations...

The second bill is perhaps the most sinister. The Enhanced Background Checks Act (H.R.1112) would give the FBI the power to run out the clock on gun purchases. Instead of having 72 hours to process a gun background check, the bill would give the NICS system 10 business days to determine whether someone can or cannot own a gun. If someone wants to appeal a rejection, then the FBI would get another 10 business days to process the appeal. That is a whole month. Since background checks are only good for 30 calendar days, this would allow the government to run out the clock on millions of gun purchases every year and block people from purchasing firearms.

This is what the Left has always wanted: a gun owner registry and the ability to block new gun purchases from going through. And Nancy Pelosi is putting it all together in one package...

I don't care what it takes, you must kill this gun control plan.

Americans have a right to keep and bear arms. Period. But if you pass even one of these proposals into law, that right would be turned into a privilege that can be revoked at any time...

You are going to start feeling a lot of pressure from Leftist special interest groups demanding that you stab American gun owners in the back and pass this package of gun control bills. People are going to start trying to convince you that you can pass these gun control bills without committing political suicide.
