At the end of this week, a number of provisions within the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act are set to expire.

Benjamin Franklin famously warned that any free people who give up their liberty in exchange for the promise of security deserve neither. That is why the Founders ratified the 4th Amendment; to prevent the Federal Government from spying on its own citizens without probable cause.

You and I both know that the FISA provisions set to expire violate the 4th Amendment. You know that the Founders have been rolling over in their graves seeing what that government has been able to get away with over the last 20 years...

We already know that FBI agents lied to the FISA Courts and illegally fabricated evidence in order to convince the judges to extend their 2016 Trump campaign surveillance warrants. We know that the FBI agents who committed these crimes have now been barred from ever again coming before the FISA Court.

But as we dig more and more into the Inspector General's report, we see even more evidence of criminality. In order to get a FISA warrant extended, the government has to prove to the court that their surveillance is turning up evidence of crimes.

When the FBI submitted their Trump/Page warrant extension applications, not only did they withhold evidence and fabricate documents, but the Inspector General also says that they added blank pages to their files as "placeholders" in order to make them seem bigger. They literally used blank pieces of paper to trick the Court into letting them unconstitutionally spy on innocent Americans.

If they are willing to break the law like that and violate the Constitution to go after Trump and his aides, imagine how lawless their surveillance is against everyday Americans...

Nancy Pelosi has rejected the Conservative and Democrat proposals to reform the FISA process to bring accountability to this lawlessness. Pelosi is now demanding that Congress pass legislation to renew FISA as-is, or else she will let it expire.

It is time to do just that.

It is not often that people get to reclaim their rights. Usually, when out-of-control governments get into the business of lawlessly spying on their own citizens, it is impossible to put a stop to it. But this week, you have a chance to do just that.
