Unbelievable: GOP Agrees to Help Dems Desecrate Confederate Grave Sites in Arlington

The GOP has caved more than we even knew. Not only have they agreed to help Democrats rename military bases named after Confederates, but they have also agreed to Elizabeth Warren's plan to desecrate Civil War gave sites at Arlington National Cemetery. Just think for a second about how radical that is...

But Warren's amendment -- Section 377 of the NDAA -- doesn't stop there. Beyond potentially exhuming Civil War dead, the amendment would also force the Pentagon to remove any mention of the Confederacy within its military museums, tear down Civil War paintings hanging in our military academies and war college, as well as ban DOD Civil War reenactments.

This has NOTHING to do with George Floyd's death. This is nothing but an attempt to erase our history. Period.

And the GOP cowards have already agreed to all of this. This radical amendment has already been added to the must-pass Pentagon spending bill.

I am demanding that you strip Section 377 from the 2021 National Defense Authorization Act, no matter what it takes.

It has been billed as an amendment to strip Confederate names off of military bases. That alone is nothing but a pointless attempt at virtue signalling. No one in America can claim they were oppressed by the signs standing outside Fort Hood, Fort Bragg, or Fort Benning...

But as always seems to be the case, the amendment doesn't just stop there. It would require that the Federal Government "remove all names, symbols, displays, monuments, and paraphernalia that honor or commemorate the Confederate States of America (commonly referred to as the ''Confederacy'') or any person who served voluntarily with the Confederate States of America from all assets of the Department of Defense."

Generations ago, our nation made a decision not to punish the Confederacy. It would have been easy to punish the Confederates for their role in the Civil War, but our ancestors chose to pursue the much more difficult path of reconciliation.

To accomplish that, military bases were named after Confederate heroes, monuments were erected, Confederate exhibits were added to military museums, and 482 Confederate soldiers were moved and interred at Arlington National Cemetery.

Since 1914, every US President (including Barack Obama) has laid a wreath at the Arlington Confederate memorial on Jefferson Davis' birthday, not to honor the Confederacy, but in remembrance of our past and how it has made us who we are today.

But today, you and your colleagues are working to undo all of this.

Warren's amendment would not only rename those military bases. It would also remove the Confederate memorial from Arlington National Cemetery and any other similar monuments erected in military graveyards. Since the amendment only exempts gravestones and not the graves themselves, a literal reading would even require that the Civil War dead be exhumed and moved off of Defense Department property...

Section 377 would require that the Pentagon's five military museums remove Confederate "paraphernalia" from the exhibits, ban DOD employees from participating in Civil War reenactments, and even force America's military academies and war colleges to tear down paintings commemorating Civil War battles.

What does this have to do with George Floyd? Absolutely nothing. This is a literal attempt to erase our history.

And shockingly, this radical amendment has bipartisan support. What started as a measure to rename military bases has now led to a debate over whether Confederate soldiers would have to be exhumed from their graves if it passed... That is what happens when you rush legislation through and don't actually study it.

You must kill Section 377 of the NDAA, or any other similar amendment designed to desecrate Civil War grave sites or erase our history. I don't care what it takes... I don't care if doing so risks a government shutdown... you cannot allow this radical amendment to become law.
