Breaking: 2nd GOPer Caves, Agrees Not To Fill Supreme Court Vacancy

President Trump is nominating a Justice to the United States Supreme Court this week. He has said it will be a woman, most likely the rock-solid conservative Amy Coney Barrett.

To their credit, the GOP leadership is onboard, with both Mitch McConnell and Lindsey Graham promising to hold the hearings and votes.

As long as four Republicans do not flip and side with the Democrats, we can win this. Here is the bad news: two GOPers have already declared they want to keep the seat open. Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski both believe that the Supreme Court should remain at 8 justices until the election is over.

If one more GOPer flips, it will be a 50-50 tie and Vice President Mike Pence would need to break the tie. If a fourth GOPer flips, it is all over.

The Democrats are throwing everything they've got at this to try to stop Trump from filling the seat. You MUST join the fight to fill the seat with a 6th Conservative Justice right now before it's too late!

You must do everything in your power to ensure that the Supreme Court vacancy is filled before the election. This country cannot risk going into a tight election without the full complement of Justices on the Highest Court.

Both the Biden and Trump campaigns have hired teams of lawyers to challenge election outcomes if necessary. We are already seeing radical lower court rulings extending ballot submission deadlines and rewriting election laws.

The Supreme Court needs the ability to handle election challenges without the risk of a 4-4 deadlock. If you thought that Bush v. Gore was polarizing, imagine how damaging it would have been if the Supreme Court was unable to reach a conclusion because one party fought to keep a vacancy open...

You are risking a real constitutional crisis if this seat is not filled. It would tear this country apart.

Back in 2016, Joe Biden and Barack Obama were both calling for the Senate to hold a confirmation vote on Merrick Garland as late as mid-October, just two weeks before the election. Even Ruth Bader Ginsburg agreed. She said in 2016 that the President doesn't stop being the President in the final year of his term, meaning that the President absolutely has the right to fill a vacancy.

In 1992, Joe Biden declared that no President should be able to fill a vacancy in an election year when the Senate is controlled by the other party, but that is not what we are facing here. Trump won the Presidency on a promise to appoint constitutionalist judges who believe in originalism. GOP Senators ran on an identical promise and gained seats in the last midterm election. This is what the American people voted for.

This push to leave the seat open has nothing to do with precedent and everything to do with politics. Leftists are terrified that Trump will be able to replace Ginsburg with an originalist Justice.

The Supreme Court must be at its full complement of 9 Justices. To leave a seat vacant going into a contentious Presidential Election is absolutely unacceptable, and you know it.
