This past weekend, a cab driver was able to stop a mass shooting in Chicago. A crazed man began shooting into a crowd of people when the Uber driver pulled over and used his concealed pistol to take the gunman out.

Stories like this one happen all the time. Yet, if you are traveling out of state, many liberal states like Illinois force you to disarm yourself. As far as they're concerned, the Second Amendment stops at the state line.

This is absolute madness. Every day, travelers become ensnared by unconstitutional state gun laws and are forced to choose between carrying anyway and risking prison or disarming and risking injury/death.

No American should have to make this choice. The Second Amendment protects the right to bear arms not just in one's home state, but in every state! Senator Cornyn's Constitutional Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act has stalled in Congress. You MUST force your Congressman and Senators to advance this commonsense legislation before more innocent Americans are victimized!

I want to tell you a story. This past weekend in Chicago, Illinois, 22-year old Everardo Custodio pulled out a pistol and began firing into a crowd of people on the street.

This would have been another mass shooting. Instead, a licensed Uber driver got out of the car and used his legally concealed weapon to take the gunman down.

Now, stories like this one happen all the time and thank god that this cab driver was there to stop the massacre. But the scary thing is that in liberal states like Illinois, out-of-state travelers would have been powerless to stop something like this. Why? Because Illinois does not honor out of state concealed weapons permits. In practice, neither does New Jersey, New York, Maryland, or Massachussetts. You'd have to be pretty well connected to get reciprocity in these states.

How is that acceptable? If a citizen of these United States is legally allowed to carry a firearm, the 2nd Amendment's right to bear arms doesn't just apply to his or her home state. It applies in every state.

Yet this country's patchwork system of gun laws only ends up ensnaring law-abiding gun owners. Gun control did nothing to stop Everardo Custodio. But it does force law-abiding gun owners to make a choice when traveling in other anti-gun states: carry anyway and risk prison or disarm and risk injury/death.

No one should have to make such a choice. The founders included the 2nd Amendment in the Constitution to make sure this would never be a choice Americans had to make. But over the years, your predecessors have allowed states to trample on this Constitutional right.

You MUST pass Senator John Cornyn's Constitutional Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act. If someone is allowed to carry a firearm in their home state, then they have a right to carry a firearm in every state. Period.
