If this was any other Constitutional right, we would all be up in arms. Imagine if 26% of Americans were prohibited from worshipping their god or denied a trial by jury. It would be unconscionable.

There is a way to put a stop to this. The Constitutional Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act would force liberal states to accept out-of-state concealed carry permits. Over time, it will force them to respect the 2nd Amendment rights of their residents as well.

But you MUST raise your voice! Right now, the bill is stuck in committee. It is up to you to demand that Congress move this legislation out of committee and on to a full floor vote before more Americans like Steffon are turned into felons!

"The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed." I feel the need to start this letter with that text just in case you don't remember the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution…

Approximately 11.1 million Americans are licensed to carry a concealed weapon. But for many of these Americans, their Second Amendment rights end at the state line.

Yet in California, Hawaii, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, and the District of Columbia, residents are either prohibited from carrying a firearm for their own protection, or the application requirements are so arbitrary and strict that a concealed carry permit is unattainable for the average citizen.

Steffon Lamont Josey is a 24-year old New Jersey resident. He was on the short-list to become a police officer and he definitely had the scores to make it. But on one September morning, he made a huge mistake. As he was checking his handgun, his younger sister surprised him in the garage. Instinctively, he stashed the legal handgun in his glove compartment so she wouldn't see it.

He forgot the gun was in there and later that day, he was pulled over for a routine traffic stop. He realized his mistake and admitted to the officer that he possessed a gun.

He was ultimately charged with felony possession of a handgun because New Jersey doesn't respect or honor the 2nd Amendment. Though he was able to plead down to just probation, his dreams of becoming a police officer are over short of a gubernatorial pardon.

The truth is that 26.15% of all Americans live in a state that refuses to recognize the Second Amendment right to bear arms. Imagine if a quarter of all Americans were denied free speech rights or denied a trial by jury or subjected to cruel and unusual punishment. You would be up in arms.

Your job, as a member of Congress, is to ensure that states do not infringe on this fundamental Constitutional right. This is one of the great civil rights issues of our age. The vast majority of states respect the Second Amendment, but a handful still refuse to. Are you going to sit back while Americans have their rights trampled on? Or are you going to take a stand and DEMAND that the Second Amendment receives the respect it deserves?

You MUST help push the Constitutional Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act out of committee. It is the only mechanism to force these gun control states to respect our Second Amendment rights!
