The Democrats are using the Paris attacks to launch a new gun control push.

They want to pass a law to prohibit those on the terror watch list from buying guns. But what they're really saying is that they want to give Obama the power to suspend someone's Second Amendment rights without even notifying them or charging them with a crime.

Why is it that everytime there's a terrorist attack, the first step is always to restrict our Constitutional rights even further?

Don't let any crisis go to waste. That's the new Democrat motto.

While the world weeps for the Paris victims and plans next steps forward for fighting ISIS, Democrats here in the United States are pushing for... new gun control.

They have invented a new "loophole" and are claiming that terrorists are allowed to legally buy guns in the United States.

Specifically, their complaint is that the people on the terror watch list are not being denied during the firearm purchase background check process.

But here's the problem: people on the terror watch list, however shady, are not convicted criminals. They aren't even charged with crimes. The Federal government is just watching them.

The law is clear. If someone is convicted of a felony or certain violent misdemeanors, or is deemed to be mentally defective, then, and only then, can the Federal government suspend their 2nd Amendment rights. This new push is to allow the administration to suspend these rights merely because there is a suspicion that someone is a criminal.

Is that really the power you want to give to the Obama administration?

There is no due process at all. People on the terror watch list are never notified and there are no legal mechanisms to be taken off the list.

This is not how Constitutional rights work. If the government doesn't think someone can be trusted with firearms, then they can charge him or her with a crime and prove it in court. Period.

Giving them the power to interfere with lawful gun purchases merely due to suspicion is unconstitutional and illegal. If you allow this to go forward, then you are an enemy of the Constitution. No defender of the 2nd Amendment would ever allow the government to seize this limitless power.
