GOP Leadership Blocks Pro-Life Amendments, Planning to Fully Fund Planned Parenthood

With Obama threatening to veto the Zika bill unless it increases Planned Parenthood's funding, GOP leaders are about to do the unthinkable: Surrender. Meanwhile, they actively block common-sense, pro-life amendments from coming to the floor for a vote.

They have rigged the amendment process to stop bills like the Pain Capable Unborn Child Prevention Act and the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act from being added to these must-pass spending bills. Instead, they're going to give-in to Obama's demands and fund abortions with taxpayer money.

After yesterday's Supreme Court ruling, one thing that has become abundantly clear is that if you don’t stand to protect the unborn, no one will. Not the courts… not the Republicans… and certainly not the Democrats…

GOP Leadership has done everything to restrict the amendment tree and stop pro-life bills from being added as amendments to these must-pass spending bills that you and your colleagues are debating.

Instead of allowing them to come to the floor through regular order, people like Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan are arbitrarily restricting what amendments get to be voted on.

The result is that bills like the Pain Capable Unborn Child Prevention Act and the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act are still waiting for Congress to find its backbone and force Obama to sign or veto them.

The Pain Capable Unborn Child Prevention Act simply says that if an unborn child is developed enough to feel and register pain signals, then abortionists cannot simply rip them apart, limb from limb. If it would be unethical to operate on the child in-utero without anesthesia, then it is unconscionable to allow abortionists to mutilate and cause untold pain to these innocent unborn children.

The Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act also does exactly what it says. If a child is born alive after a botched abortion, then that child must be afforded all the rights under the constitution and our laws. If a butcher like Kermit Gosnell murders a crying baby by stabbing it in the spinal cord with scissors (which is exactly what he was convicted of doing), then that is murder. The fact that the law is vague enough to allow that not to be called murder is SHAMEFUL.

Right now, GOP leadership is meeting to discuss what to do if Obama vetoes the Zika bill. He has said that he will hold hostage the funding to fight this epidemic unless Congress gives Planned Parenthood money to perform abortions.

The pathetic thing is the GOP is actually considering caving on this.

While they block pro-life amendments from coming up for votes, they plan behind closed doors to give even more funding to Planned Parenthood.

It's just so backwards...

These two bills have been estimated to save at least 27 babies every day. These are unborn children that are able to survive outside the womb, or would be able to with another one to two weeks to develop.

Since you and your colleagues gave up on passing these bills 280 days ago, 7,560 children have been needlessly and unethically killed.

7,560 lives. That is the price of your inaction.
