Veterans are committing suicide because the employees at the VA are too lazy and negligent to pick up the Suicide Hotline phone when it rings.

Veterans who pass away are being left in the morgue for months on end, left to decompose.

Our vets deserve better than this. There are a number of VA reform bills that have near unanimous support in Congress. Yet, these Congressmen and Senators left work early to head home this weekend without fully passing the legislation.

It's shameful.

The only way they will understand the seriousness of this is for us to put it in terms they can understand: their re-election prospects.

For months, I have written to you about how Veterans are committing suicide because the VA refuses to help them. This week, we learned that VA employee laziness and negligence allows 1/3 of all suicide hotline calls to go unanswered.

For months, I have written to you explaining how Veterans who do manage to see a doctor are being mistreated. This week, we also learned that in at least one VA Hospital, deceased Veterans' bodies are ignored for so long that they actually start decomposing and liquifying.

Veterans who are in desperate need of help are being turned away and those who succumb to their illnesses and injuries are denied a proper burial and left in the morgue to rot away. All of this came out this week.

So I have to ask you: Who do you think you are leaving DC to go home to your district without fixing this?

The No Veterans Crisis Line Call Should Go Unanswered Act has unanimous support in both the House and the Senate. Why couldn't you stick around long enough to finish your jobs and put this bill on Obama's desk?

Roughly 20 veterans commit suicide every day. I am curious to know what was so important that fixing our VA's suicide hotline would have to wait until you get back to DC...

Then there's the Respectful Interment for Passing Veterans Act. This bill is simple: If a Veteran - an American hero - passes away in a VA Hospital, they are legally entitled to a speedy burial. It should be a crime to leave a Veteran's body in the morgue for so long that it liquefies (which is what is happening).

These men and women fought for this country. How can you leave Washington DC while these deceased heroes are being ignored like this?

Let me put this in terms you can understand: your re-election will be decided by whether you fix these problems at the VA or not. I am done asking nicely. This is getting out of control.

These Veterans answered the call to protect you and your family. Now, in their time of need, you couldn't even be bothered to prioritize them before skipping off on a miniature vacation.

Fix the VA or pack your bags.
