You and your colleagues failed us in recent years. You completely failed us.

You had multiple opportunities to stand and fight for the unborn, and you cowered. You had chances to attach meaningful bills to other must-pass pieces of legislation, but instead of forcing the President to sign them, you gave up.

Donald Trump has been President for four days and with his executive order reinstating the Mexico City policy, he has done more to protect the unborn in half a week than you have in years.

Unborn children are still being killed and sold for their organs. Babies developed enough to feel pain are being ripped apart in the womb, limb from limb. Viable children who, statistically, have a chance to survive outside the womb are being killed and never afforded that chance.

Through your inaction, infanticide is now the law of the land.

It is not enough to just pass a bill. Unless you are willing to attach pro-life bills to must-pass legislation, you are failing us. The rights of the unborn are too important to settle with lip service.

The Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act would, once and for all, ban late-term abortions.

If a surgeon was to operate on an unborn child at 20-weeks gestation, that surgeon would be legally required to administer anesthesia in order for the surgery to be ethical. That is because unborn children begin to feel pain at the 20-week mark.

However, if that same surgeon was performing an abortion - as opposed to life saving surgery - he or she would be allowed to rip the baby apart, limb from limb, in the womb.

The cry of a newborn is supposed to be a beautiful sound. But today, in so many parts of the country, it means something entirely different.

Two years ago, on the 43rd Anniversary of Roe v Wade, you and your colleagues failed to pass this legislation. It has been 733 days since then.

Over that time, 19,791 unborn children - capable of feeling pain and theoretically able to survive outside the womb - have been aborted. That is infanticide and your inaction enabled it to happen.

If you won't take up the banner to defend them, I will replace you with someone who will. That's not a threat, it's a promise.
