With the stroke of a pen, President Trump shut down Barack Obama's open-door refugee program.

He cut off immigration from countries that Congress labeled as terror hotbeds and vowed to re-open these programs when extreme vetting is in place.

Now turncoat Republicans, led by John McCain and Lindsey Graham, are teaming up with Democrats to reinstate Obama's suicidal refugee policies. This is absolute madness.

Late last week, Donald Trump signed an executive order shutting down immigration from seven countries in the Middle East and North Africa for 3-4 months.

The only country mentioned by name was Syria. The rest simply shut down immigration from "countries of concern."

In 2015, you and your colleagues passed an 888-page Omnibus spending bill. Attached to that bill was the Visa Waiver Program and Terrorist Travel Protection Act of 2015.

That amendment listed Syria, Iraq, Iran, Somalia, Sudan, Libya, and Yemen as "countries of concern" that warrant stricter scrutiny for visa applications.

President Trump has determined that the strict scrutiny put into place by his predecessor was insufficient. So he has suspended immigration from these countries for 90 days in order to implement changes.

This is legal, it is constitutional, and it is possible because of legislation YOU passed.

Now, Democrats are throwing a fit. Chuck Schumer is vowing to force a vote on legislation to reinstate Obama's open-door refugee program. He voted for the Terrorist Travel Protection Act, but he conveniently leaves that out...

Other Republicans, like McCain and Graham, are hopping on board.

I am writing to you to make sure you understand that if you think that you can reinstate Obama's unvetted refugee program, you are sorely mistaken.

If you think that you can allow this bill to come up for a vote and let it pass without your support, you are sorely mistaken.

You need to kill Diane Feinstein's bills. You need to block any piece of legislation that comes up to reinstate Obama's asinine refugee program.

It is time to put the American people's security first!
