Republicans in the Senate are desperately trying to make sure that Planned Parenthood stays completely funded. The House voted this spring to cut off all federal funding to Planned Parenthood but now a handful of Republicans in the Senate are threatening to block that from happening.

A baby's cry is supposed to be a beautiful thing. Yet in so many clinics across the country, those cries represent something entirely different. And the fact that the Federal goverment uses your tax dollars to fund that slaughter is deplorable.

A handful of Senate Republicans are working to make sure that Planned Parenthood remains completely funded. The House voted to pull the abortion organization's funding when they passed the AHCA this spring.

Now, at least two of your Senate colleagues are threatening to block the bill from moving forward unless Planned Parenthood's funding is reinstated.

Federal law is clear: tax dollars cannot pay for abortions. While federal funding doesn't pay for the procedures themselves, the money is fungible. It pays the abortionists' salaries and keeps the abortion facilities' lights on. By most measures, Federal tax dollars are financing abortions.

This needs to stop. Abortion is not healthcare and pregnancy is not a disease. Yet, right now, federal funding treats them as such.

The provision within the AHCA is clear. Federal funding will be withheld from Planned Parenthood unless they give up their abortion business. If they are able to survive without this federal funding, then it is clear they never needed it to begin with. If they drop their abortion side, then we will have succeeded in saving over 300,000 unborn lives a year.

There are elements at work trying to make sure that Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers get all the money they need to keep their abortion businesses running. There will be a lot of pressure to go along with it and leave this fight for another day.

I am writing to tell you: Don't you dare!

Planned Parenthood must be defunded. Not in a month or a year... NOW!
