Iowa passed legislation this April pulling all state funding from abortion clinics. Planned Parenthood started the year with 12 clinics in the Hawkeye State. Now that they aren't getting money from the state anymore -- one location received $2.7 million in state funding last year -- they are going to enter 2018 with just EIGHT abortion clinics left open.

If cutting off state funding closes a third of their clinics in a given state, imagine how many clinics would be forced to shut down if we cut off Federal funding...

The deadline for Congress to pass the next budget is the same day as the March for Life. We are making a major push to force Congress to defund Planned Parenthood on the 45th anniversary of Roe v Wade.

This April, Iowa's legislature passed legislation to defund Planned Parenthood and other abortion clinics in the state. Instead of using taxpayer money to prop up these abortion clinics, the state dollars will instead go to clinics that don't offer abortions.

Planned Parenthood started 2017 with 12 abortion clinics in that state. After the governor signed the bill into law and cut off their state funding, the organization was forced to close four of its clinics.

That is how reliant Planned Parenthood is on government funding. Abortions and abortion-related procedures make up the majority of Planned Parenthood's revenue, yet we're supposed to believe that Federal funding doesn't touch the abortion side of the business. What we see in Iowa is that their math just doesn't add up. If the majority of their revenue comes from abortions, and Federal law bans public funding from being used to pay for abortion procedures, then the only reason that these clinics would close is if Planned Parenthood was breaking the law. Public funding is propping up these abortions.

This has to end. Abortion is legal. If someone wants to go into business providing abortions, that is their right. But there is no right to demand that taxpayers subsidize these businesses. If these companies want to stay in business, then they need to figure out a way to keep the lights on without taxpayer money.

On January 19, you and your colleagues must pass a new Federal spending package. That is the same day as the March for Life.

Our demand is pretty simple: stop funneling Federal tax dollars to Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers. Instead, earmark that money for helping clinics that truly are in the healthcare business. You have an opportunity to make history and finally take the Federal government out of the abortion business.

Or, you can go the way of former-Congresswoman Renee Ellmers. She snubbed the pro-life movement and blocked Congress from passing the Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act during the March for Life in 2015. She ended up losing her primary election by almost 30 points.

That is the fate of anyone who turns their back on the pro-life movement. That is the fate of anyone who helps prop up Planned Parenthood.

I am asking you to do the right thing. If Planned Parenthood wants to stay in business, they need to learn to exist without relying on government funding. As we have seen in Iowa, government funding is literally keeping them in business.

It's time to pull the plug.
