Republicans in Congress are caving. They are "compromising" with the Left and signing onto the Democrats' federal gun confiscation bill.

Instead of limiting when the Federal government can disarm Americans, this bill would authorize Federal disarmament based upon nothing but hearsay.

The Democrats have already got GOP Congressman Fred Upton to sign on as a co-sponsor. More Republicans are following. When they get 23 Republicans, this will have enough votes to pass.

After the Parkland shooting, many of your colleagues rallied around the call to "do something" about guns.

It became clear that "do something" actually meant attacking American gun owners. Members of both parties began signing onto proposals to enact gun bans and gun registries. But another piece of "compromise" legislation is moving forward that is even worse.

Rep. Debbie Dingell (D-MI) is introducing a Federal gun confiscation bill. She is being joined by Rep. Fred Upton (R-MI) and other "moderate" Republicans.

This bill is a danger to the Republic and to our Constitutional rights.

The Federal government's power to disarm Americans is deliberately limited. Americans can only lose their 2nd Amendment rights if they are dishonorably discharged from the military, convicted of a crime, a fugitive from justice, or adjudicated mentally defective.

This new legislation would alow for Federal confiscation orders based on nothing but hearsay. Family members, neighbors, community members, and perfect strangers would be able to petition the Federal government to confiscate an American's firearms. They would not be charged or convicted of a crime and there would be no adjudication of their mental faculties.

This proposal is not only illegal, but it is also unconstitutional. The bar for Federal disarmament is deliberately set high because the 2nd Amendment is not a 2nd Class right. And yet, many of your colleagues are rallying behind this Dingell-Upton bill.

You need to put a stop to this. You CANNOT allow the Federal government's disarmament powers to be broadened.

"Shall not be infringed" means shall not be infringed.

Many of your colleagues are running away from the 2nd Amendment as the midterms come closer. Others are openly campaigning on eliminating the right to keep and bear arms.
