GOPers in Congress are itching to "compromise" with the Left on gun control. The bill they are now pushing would give the Federal government the power to confiscate Americans' guns without needing to charge them with a crime.

This "red flag" bill would authorize Federal disarmament based upon nothing but hearsay.

The Democrats have already got GOP Congressman Fred Upton to sign on as a co-sponsor. More Republicans are following. When they get 23 Republicans, this will have enough votes to pass.

Many of your colleagues feel the need to "do something" on gun control.

As the weeks pass, it is clear that "do something" means ban and confiscate guns.

Rep. Debbie Dingell (D-MI) has introduced a Federal gun confiscation bill and she already has a Republican -- Rep. Fred Upton (MI) to sign on as a co-sponsor. More cowardly Republicans are following.

The "red flag" bill would allow complete strangers to report people to the Feds for disarmament. Federal agents would then be able to disarm gun owners based on hearsay.

This is a clear danger to our Constitutional rights.

The Federal government's power to disarm Americans is deliberately limited. Americans can only lose their 2nd Amendment rights if they are dishonorably discharged from the military, convicted of a crime, a fugitive from justice, or adjudicated mentally defective.

This new legislation would allow for Federal confiscation orders based on nothing but hearsay. Family members, neighbors, community members, and perfect strangers would be able to petition the Federal government to confiscate an American's firearms. They would not be charged or convicted of a crime and there would be no adjudication of their mental faculties.

This proposal is not only illegal, but it is also unconstitutional. The bar for Federal disarmament is deliberately set high because the 2nd Amendment is not a 2nd Class right. And yet, many of your colleagues are rallying behind this Dingell-Upton bill.

Under no circumstances can you allow for the Federal government to get more confiscation powers. The 2nd Amendment reads "shall not be infringed" for a reason.

Stand for the 2nd Amendment. Stand for individual liberty. Stand for the right to keep and bear arms. Block this bill from moving forward.
