Democrats have officially cleared H.R. 8 and H.R. 1112 for floor votes. The first would mandate FBI background checks for ALL gun transfers and sales, even gifts between family and friends. The second bill would allow the FBI to arbitrarily block and delay these gun purchases for a month or more, without even needing to give a reason!

Republicans are pushing back, but only because they want their gun control bill to get a vote first. Marco Rubio's Extreme Risk Protection Order and Violence Prevention Act (S. 7) would give police the power to confiscate Americans' guns without even needing to accuse them of a crime!

All three of these bills are coming up for a vote. GOP leaders are already saying that they see a potential "compromise" to be had on this package.

You swore an oath to defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic. That includes your colleagues attempts to chip away at the 2nd Amendment.

There are three bills racing towards floor votes that are egregious, unconstitutional, and would treat law abiding gun owners as criminals.

If you want to keep your job, you must kill H.R. 8, H.R. 1112, and S. 7!

H.R. 8 would mandate background checks on all gun purchases and transfers. Even those between family and friends and even temporary transfers for hunting or storage purposes. The only way this is enforceable is with a nationwide gun registry. The Federal government cannot tell whether a private sale is legal without knowing the history of the gun's ownership.

As you know, every time countries have imposed gun registries, nationwide confiscations have followed. Every. Single. Time.

H.R. 1112 is called the Enhanced Background Checks Act. This bill is actually even worse. When Congress passed the Brady Act in 1994, they gave the FBI a strict 3-day window to process gun background checks. If the FBI can't do the check, then the purchaser is allowed to take home the gun. This ensures that the right to keep and bear arms remains a right. H.R. 1112 would give the FBI 10 business days to process the background check and require purchasers go through a 10 business day appeal process before taking the gun home. Since the background check is only good for 30 calendar days, this bill would allow the FBI to block millions of gun transfers indefinitely, without even needing to give a reason why.

Every gun buyer would have to undergo a background check, but there's no guarantee that the FBI would even perform it...

But the worst bill, by far, is S. 7. The bar for disarmament is deliberately set high in this country. Prosecutors need to prove someone is a criminal or mentally ill in order to suspend their constitutional right. Marco Rubio's Extreme Risk Protection Order and Violence Prevention Act would throw out that basic principle of justice and allow police to confiscate guns based on nothing but hearsay. The word of a family member, friend, neighbor, or even complete stranger would be enough to justify confiscations. It would then be up to the gun owner to prove to a judge that he or she deserves their guns back. This bill would presume gun owners guilty until proven innocent.

It is absolutely shameful that Congress is even considering these bills. If you dare vote for them, you will be removed from office. If you sit on your hands and let them pass, I swear, you will be removed from office.
