When Congress ratified the 14th Amendment in 1868, they created a way for Congress to intervene and stop states from violating citizens' rights. The amendment literally says that it is Congress' job to stop this abuse.

Right now, it is impossible for any American civilian to carry a firearm for self-defense in all 50 states. It doesn't matter how much training they have or how many permits they have... Their rights are still violated.

Right now, seven states -- California, Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York -- and the District of Columbia refuse to honor any out-of-state carry permit. They also refuse to issue carry permits to non-residents. Most of these states also refuse to allow their own citizens to exercise their right to bear arms.

Quite simply, these states are refusing to respect Americans' 2nd Amendment rights within their borders.

The 14th Amendment exists for this precise reason. States are violating Americans' constitutional rights. It is up to you to put a stop to it.

The Constitutional Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act would do just that. It would require that states treat out-of-state carry permits the same way they treat out-of-state driver's licenses.

And just like drivers are expected to know the traffic laws in states they visit, concealed carriers would also need to obey all applicable self-defense laws when they travel across state lines. But states would no longer refuse to allow licensed and permitted Americans to carry in their states...

But for 191 straight days, this bill has collected dust in committee. Neither party is interested in protecting this fundamental individual right to bear arms. That is shameful.

I am writing to you to deliver a simple message: a right delayed is a right denied.

Now is the time to pass this bill and restore the right to carry to ALL law-abiding Americans. If you refuse to force this vote, if you say that the 'timing isn't right,' or if you allow it to continue collecting dust, you need to understand that is no different than voting against it.

I will say it again: A right delayed is a right denied.

You have a chance, right now, to protect the rights of your constituents and force States to respect the rights outlined in the Constitution. If you will not immediately force a vote, then I will have no choice but to remove you from office.
