You swore an oath. You held up your right hand and swore to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America, so help you God.

That includes the 2nd Amendment. And yet, right now, there is legislation moving forward that would ban the most commonly-owned guns in America, turning tens of millions of people into felons in the process.

There is nothing reasonable about the Feinstein-Cicilline Assault Weapons Ban of 2019. We just saw in Philadelphia that gun laws do not stop violent criminals from getting their hands on firearms. But instead of actually targeting dangerous criminals, this legislation is only designed to go after law-abiding citizens.

When the original Assault Weapons Ban passed in 1994, it banned 24 guns by name. This latest version would ban 240+ different models of commonly owned firearms.

The 1994 version allowed for Americans to own semi-automatic rifles as long as they complied with the law. This new bill would ban any semi-automatic rifle that has a "grip... or any other characteristic that can function as a grip." Under this bill, any gun you can hold in your hand would be classified as an "assault weapon."

The bill would ban tens of millions of semi-automatic handguns -- which the Supreme Court has already ruled are protected under the 2nd Amendment, outlaw popular hunting and target shooting rifles, and make it harder for Americans to defend themselves and their families. The bill would even ban pistol arm braces, which were originally designed to help disabled veterans fire handguns with just one arm.

This is a direct assault on the 2nd Amendment. This isn't about keeping the American people safe. This is just an attempt to ban as many guns as possible.

Enough is enough.

Any Congressman or Senator, Republican or Democrat, who supports this bill or does anything to help it pass will be removed from office.
