You were elected to Congress to do two things: serve the American people and defend the Constitution of the United States, including the Bill of Rights.

Except, right now, you are being called on to violate both of these oaths. You are being asked to support the most radical gun control bill ever devised, the Assault Weapons Ban of 2019.

This legislation would not ban "weapons of war." There is not a single military on earth that fields standard-issue semi-automatic rifles. Not. One.

The only thing this bill is designed to do is disarm the American people. It would ban tens of millions of semi-automatic firearms, not because they are especially dangerous, but because the have cosmetic attachments or features that the gun control movement doesn't believe American citizens can be trusted with owning.

It would ban self-defense and target pistols, rifles, and shotguns simply because they have threaded barrels and other targeted features. It would ban pistol braces, a device originally designed to help a disabled veteran learn how to fire a pistol one-handed again. It would ban competition rifles simply because they accept a detachable magazine and even many hunting rifles and shotguns would be on the chopping block as well.

The bill is so radical that it redesigns the term "pistol grip" to make it easier to ban guns. A "pistol grip" would now be defined as "a grip, or any characteristic that can function as a grip." Gun control advocates now believe that being able to hold a rifle in your hand is a so-called "military feature."

You cannot allow this bill to pass. A hearing has already been called in the House and Senate Democrats are also promising to force a vote on the legislation. Meanwhile, more and more Republicans and Democrats are signing onto the ban. They believe that they must vote for the biggest gun ban ever in order to save their seats.

What do you care about more? Preserving your career or preserving the rights of your constituents?

Make no mistake: any Congressman or Senator, Democrat or Republican, who dares vote for H.R.1296 or S.66, or any other gun ban legislation, will be removed from office.
