This week, President Trump authorized an additional $200 million in funding for the border wall project. The bulk of this funding came from a program designed to help Afghanistan implement their drug laws. President Trump pulled the plug and reprogrammed the funding to stop drug smuggling into the United States instead. This is what America First looks like.

Over the next 12 months, the Trump administration now estimates they will be able to complete upwards of 550 miles of new border wall. To put that in perspective, there were only 335 miles of pedestrian fencing at the border when Trump took office...

Trump is simply doing what Republicans and Democrats have promised to do for decades. He is securing the border. Many of your colleagues, however, are furious and vowing to put a stop to the border wall project for good.

They know that they don't have the votes to override a Presidential veto. The veto override vote in the Senate this past week came up ten votes short.

The only way they could possibly kill the border wall is by attaching their poison pills to spending bills that the President cannot afford to veto. And that is exactly what Democrats have done.

Section 227 of the DHS Appropriations Act and Section 2801 of the NDAA both contain amendments designed to cancel the President's national emergency and block any Federal funds from being used to secure the border. These amendments are so radical that they would even block Border Patrol from repairing existing fencing. If cartel smugglers cut a hole in the fence, Border Patrol would not even be allowed to patch it...

This is how radical the open border contingent in Congress has become. They are so desperate to defeat the President and kill the border wall project that they are threatening to hold our national security and defense hostage. It is disgusting.

Border Patrol is reporting that the 71 miles of new wall is already making a difference. Human and drug smuggling is way down in these sectors and fewer illegal aliens are getting into the United States.

Why would you possibly want to reverse this? Why would you possibly want to make it easier for drug and human smugglers to get into the country?

You need to kill these two poison pill amendments. I don't care what it takes, you cannot allow them to pass.

For years, the American people have been promised border security. President Trump is finally delivering on that promise.

I am demanding that you safeguard the project's funding and kill any attempt to claw the border wall money back. If you refuse to stand for border security, you will be replaced with someone who will.
