The United Nations is in total crisis. Their budget crisis is so severe that the UN actually had to close their New York Headquarters over the weekend. Officials are already warning they will have to add more closures unless the United States pays the $1 billion that we "owe" them.

President Trump told the UN to pound sand when they tried to collect that "debt." He threw the bill in the trash and promised never to pay it.

But this week, Democrats are planning to force a vote on a bill -- H.R. 2839 -- that would pay the UN's bill in-full and save them from bankruptcy. And the idiot Republicans are going along with it!

We finally have the United Nations on the ropes. They are so close to bankruptcy that they are actually closing their HQ two days a week just to stay afloat.

For years, the United Nations has relied on American tax dollars to implement their agenda around the world. When President Trump was elected, he promised to cut funding to UN programs that were not in our interest.

Over the past two and a half years, Trump has cut hundreds of millions from the UN's budget and cut off dozens of United Nations programs from access to US funding.

Trump told the United Nations that if they reformed, clamped down on corruption and wasteful spending, and got their house in order, then the funding would be restored. Instead of doing that, the UN chose to try to wait it out. They hoped that a future President, or future Congress, would restore what Trump had cut.

Their plan isn't working. Last week, the UN warned that unless the United States pays them the $1 billion that we "owe," then the United Nations would have to start shutting down many of its programs at the end of the month. Well, they didn't even last that long. Over the weekend, the United Nations' New York Headquarters was forced to close down on Saturday and Sunday. The UN warns that it will have to close every weekend from here on out until their funding is restored.

President Trump took a hatchet to the funding for the United Nations' most anti-American and anti-Israeli programs and that was enough to force the UN to shutdown its headquarters two days a week...

You cannot pay this bill. Under no circumstances can you allow the Treasury to bail out the United Nations.

And yet, that is precisely what the next bill on the agenda would do. H.R. 2839, The State Department, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs Appropriations Act of 2020, would not only increase the UN's funding, but it would also pay the "arrearages" from President Trump's funding cuts.

It would increase US peacekeeping contributions by $577 million, increase the contributions to the General Fund by $160 million, and pay them almost $479 million for the cuts Trump made in 2017 and 2018. It would also restore funding to the UN's Paris Climate Treaty, which the Obama administration signed without ever seeking Congressional ratification. Down the line, the legislation restores funding to the most wasteful and anti-American programs that the United Nations has.

It is shameful that with all of the challenges facing the American people here in the United States, you are about to give the United Nations more of our tax dollars than ever before.

You need to wake up. If you vote for this UN funding giveaway, you will pay the price at the polls. In case you have forgotten, you were elected to serve the American people. It is time you start acting like it.

I am demanding that you strip these UN funding increases from the bill.

If any of these UN funding provisions survive and make it into the final spending package, I will hold you personally responsible!
