Donald Trump ran on a simple promise to put America First. Americans work hard for their money and their tax dollars should serve our interests, not the anti-American bureaucrats in the United Nations.

Not surprisingly, Trump made a lot of cuts to the United Nations' budget. Trump cut so much that the United Nations was actually thrown into a cash crisis. For the last two months, the UN Headquarters Building in New York has been closed on the weekends in order to save money.

All told, the UN says that we owe them 1.2 billion on top of the billions that Obama promised them. Trump told them to take a hike, but now your colleagues want to pay their invoice in-full...

H.R. 2839, the State Department, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs Appropriations Act, is one gigantic giveaway to the United Nations. Not only does the bill increase UN funding by a billion dollars, which would bail the UN out and save them from bankruptcy, it would also use the power of the purse to force the Trump administration to readopt Obama-era policies.

At the beginning of the month, Trump sent the United Nations a formal notice beginning the process of withdrawing from the Paris Climate Treaty. As you know, Obama signed this treaty without ever seeking the advice and consent of Congress as the Constitution requires. He then raided the discretionary funds in the Treasury to fund it and implemented the terms by executive order.  This is precisely what the Founders feared and is why they wrote the Constitution's Treaty Clause to begin with.

What one President signs on his own, another President can un-sign. But when Obama signed, he agreed to the United Nations' withdrawal terms. In order for the United States to withdraw, we need to send the UN two formal notices. The first was sent at the beginning of November informing the UN of our intent to withdraw. The second letter has to be sent next November, which will finish the withdrawal process.

Your colleagues, however, want to stop Trump from sending that final notice. Tucked away in 7060(b)(1)(D) is a provision stipulating that "None of the funds appropriated or otherwise made available by this Act, or prior Acts making appropriations for the Department of State, foreign operations, and related programs, may be used to provide formal notification under Article 28 of the Paris Agreement of the withdrawal of the United States from such Agreement."

Even though Obama had no right to sign the treaty without Congressional advice or consent, this one sentence would make it illegal for Trump to withdraw from it. Obama's signature would become permanent.

Across the board, H.R.2839 is full of amendments just like this. Funding to the UN's most radical and anti-American programs would be restored and Trump would be forced to restore Obama-era policies.

During the appropriations reconciliation process, both parties have to compromise on which of their spending priorities make it into the final bill. Already, your globalist colleagues are fighting to restore all of the United Nations' funding and stop Trump from withdrawing from the Paris Climate Treaty.

I need you to understand that this is unacceptable. You will not be able to sweep this under the rug and hide this from the American people. We are watching you.

If you vote for this bill as-is, or allow any of these radical UN funding amendments to survive into the final version, you will be held accountable. For far too long, American tax dollars have been funneled overseas to United Nations bureaucrats who want to chip away at our sovereignty and our rights.

Trump is the first President to claw back our sovereignty and pull the plug on these radical programs. You should be supporting him, not scheming to restore the United Nations' funding...

Please heed my warning: If any of these radical UN funding amendments survive, you will voted out of office.
