We are starting to hear the first details on the "compromise" spending bill that was reached between Democrats and Republicans this week.

In exchange for allowing President Trump to continue securing the border, Republicans are offering to approve most of the Democrats' domestic spending amendments. That includes the Left's plan to restore Planned Parenthood.

President Trump ran on a promise to get the US government out of the abortion business. For decades, Federal law has prohibited taxpayer funds from paying for abortion procedures. But the abortion industry has gotten around this ban using creative accounting techniques.

Instead of using Title X funds to pay for the abortion procedures themselves, Planned Parenthood has used the funding instead to pay their abortionists' salaries, pay for training, and cover other business expenses.

While Federal funds did not pay for abortions, they undoubtedly facilitated the procedures nonetheless. Trump ordered this loophole to be closed. Under Trump's Protect Life order, clinics that perform or refer for abortions are no longer eligible to receive Title X funds. Planned Parenthood ultimately sued the administration, but lost their case in the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals.

For the first time, the Federal government is out of the abortion business. Instead of propping up abortion clinics, Title X funds now go towards clinics that care for women without killing the unborn.

But under the proposed spending "compromise," this funding would be restored and actually increased. The amendment in question, which will be added to the final bill, would mandate that HHS disburse Title X funds according to the regulations that were in place on January 18, 2017. In other words, the Trump administration will be forced to re-adopt Barack Obama's policies. It would be like Trump never even won.

This is a disgusting abuse of Congress' Power of the Purse. This isn't a compromise. It is a surrender.

I need you to understand that if you allow this "compromise" to pass and restore Planned Parenthood's funding, you will be held responsible.
