Unbelievable: Democrats Approve Protests, But Still Crackdown On Churches!

Last week, the Supreme Court ruled that states like California are allowed to force churches to remain closed because their coronavirus restrictions apply to religious and non-religious gatherings alike.

We now know this was a lie. Leftist politicians all across this country have changed their coronavirus lockdown restrictions to allow leftist protests to continue. In California, for example, protests are allowed to have 100 participants (which is not being enforced) but any other gathering is limited to just 12.

By carving out an exception for leftist protesters, rioters, and looters, Democrats just proved that their restrictions on churches are unlawful and unconstitutional.

We now have a window of opportunity to reverse John Roberts' radical ruling, but that window won't be open for long.

Last week, the Supreme Court issued a surprise 5-4 decision allowing states like California to continue to block residents from attending worship services at churches, synagogues, or mosques. The decision explains that because coronavirus lockdown rules are faith-blind, they cannot be an infringement on religious freedom rights. Basically, Roberts and the leftists on the bench said that as long as liberal cities and states apply the same lockdown rules to religious and non-religious gatherings alike, then they are constitutional.

It took less than a week for Democrats to show their true colors and invalidate this Supreme Court ruling.

In California, health officials have now ruled that protests can include up to 100 participants under the now-revised social distancing rules. But that rule isn't being enforced. Thousands of people are protesting and not one has been fined for defying the social distancing order. However, if churches allow even just one too many people into the building, they are being threatened with permanent closure.

A couple of weeks ago, thousands of mourners gathered outside in New York City to mourn the passing of a beloved local Rabbi. Mayor Bill de Blasio sent police officers to break it up and threatened Jews with arrest if they dared gather in groups larger than ten. But this week, de Blasio violated his own order. He attended a memorial service for George Floyd that was attended by hundreds of protesters.

In New York, store owners are still being threatened with prosecution if they open up and allow customers in. However, the local district attorney announced last night that his office will no longer prosecute the looters who break into businesses and steal merchandise. Churches are required to remain closed but the arsonists who tried to burn churches down are going unpunished.

There is no longer any doubt. The coronavirus lockdown restrictions violate the Fourteenth Amendment. Not only do they violate Americans' basic rights and liberties by criminalizing religious expression, but they also deny Christians and other Americans equal protection under the law. It is unconstitutional for cities and states to only criminalize gatherings for religious purposes.

The Supreme Court's decision in South Bay United Pentecostal Church v. Newsom was disgusting when it was issued. But now, it is obvious that the opinion was factually incorrect as well. The coronavirus restrictions are no longer faith-blind. They are no longer being applied equally to both religious and secular gatherings.

The Fourteenth Amendment gives YOU the power to intervene and prevent cities and states from violating their residents' rights. You swore an oath to uphold and defend the Constitution. Now is the time to honor that oath...
