This week, you and your colleagues are being called to pass an appropriations package that includes one of the most radical DHS spending bills ever written.

The Department of Homeland Security Appropriations Act would not only reinstate Obama's catch-and-release policies and force ICE to start releasing captured illegal aliens again, but it would also cut off all funding to border wall construction.

The legislation would rescind previously negotiated border wall appropriations, claw back the funding that Trump has reprogrammed over the last year, and make it illegal for the President to reprogram additional funds from other departments or agencies to finish the project.

The border wall construction project is still on pace to complete 500 miles of new border wall by early next year. The legislation you are expected to vote on this week would pull the plug and leave the project unfinished at only 245 miles...

We know that the new sections of border wall are working. Border sectors with new sections of walls are seeing sharp reductions in drug and human trafficking. Why would you possibly want to help drug and human traffickers by ending the border wall construction project?

Amazingly, the bill gets even worse. H-2A visas are given to migrants who want to work temporary, seasonal agricultural jobs in the United States. The bill coming to the floor for a vote includes an amendment that would require the government to admit H-2A visa recipients "without regard to whether they will engage in work that is temporary or seasonal in nature." If this passes, immigration fraud will skyrocket.

Another amendment would make it illegal to deport anyone who would receive amnesty under a bill that has already been introduced in Congress. Millions of illegal aliens would receive automatic protection from deportation simply because legislation has been introduced that would protect them. Not passed... not even marked up... just introduced.

Nothing about this bill is redeemable. You cannot allow this legislation to pass.

I don't care what it takes. I don't care if defeating the legislation would cause a government shutdown. You cannot allow any of these radical open border or anti-border wall amendments to become law.
