Since 1948, states have been required to finalize their elections by a set date. Democrats are now rushing to extend the deadline for states to choose the winner of the Presidential race in order to give Joe Biden more time to steal the election and challenge every ballot.

The Left knows that the only way Biden can win is through mail-in ballots. They are already admitting that they expect Donald Trump to win the election day vote. Now, Democrats are demanding more time to let them challenge or even change the election results.

With less than two months to go until election day, it is absolutely shameful that your colleagues are trying to change the rules.

Since 1948, the deadline for states to certify their election results and send electors to the electoral college has been set in stone. That deadline is December 12.

Democrats are demanding that you change this 72-year-old law. They want to give states more time to process absentee and mail-in ballots, and give the Biden campaign more time to challenge those ballots.

This week, Biden campaign officials have openly admitted that they expect Donald Trump to win the election day vote, but for Joe Biden to win the race once mail-in ballots are counted. It is not a coincidence that these are the same people now pushing to give states more time to count ballots.

We see this every election. Just as the results seem finalized, poll workers always seem to discover boxes of uncounted ballots that, once counted, end up changing the results. We saw this in Minnesota in 2008. We saw an attempt at this scheme play out in Broward County, Florida in 2018.

States do not need an extra three weeks to count ballots and finalize the results. This is a nakedly political attempt to help one candidate steal an election.

Remarkably, the bill Democrats are pushing was written by Marco Rubio. It would extend the deadline for states to pick their Electoral College electors out to January 1, 2021.

You cannot pass this bill, or any other bill like it. There is no actual reason to extend the election certification deadline.

It is unconscionable that you would even consider changing the rules for the election with less than two months to go.

I want to be absolutely clear: you will not be able to slip this through. If you vote for this bill -- as stand-alone legislation or an amendment -- you will be held accountable. If you sit on your hands and allow the provisions to pass, you will be held accountable. You will not get away with slipping this through.

I sincerely hope that you come to your senses. But if you sign onto this scheme, I promise that you will be removed from office...
