Democrats are voting TOMORROW to bring their new gun confiscation bill - H.R. 2377, the Federal Extreme Risk Protection Order Act of 2021 - to the floor for a full vote.

This bill would give the government the power to confiscate Americans' guns and suspend their 2nd Amendment rights for half a year without even needing to accuse them of breaking the law or prove beyond a reasonable doubt that they committed a crime.

Forget about "innocent until proven guilty." This bill would make gun owners guilty until proven innocent.

America was built on the concept of "innocent until proven guilty." If the government wants to deprive us of our liberty and freedoms, then they have to prove that we did something deserving of such a punishment.

The bar for civilian disarmament is deliberately set very high. In order to take away someone's natural right to self-defense, the government has to prove, beyond a reasonable doubt, that the gun owner committed a heinous crime deserving disarmament. That requires an indictment, a conviction, and a sentence.

But your colleagues are advancing a bill that would allow prosecutors to skip this judicial process entirely. Their legislation is called the Extreme Risk Protection Order Act of 2021. This bill would allow the government to seek a disarmament order simply by convincing a judge that it is 'more likely than not' that a gun owner is 'dangerous.'

The government would be able to suspend a gun owner's 2nd Amendment rights and confiscate their firearms simply by convincing a single judge that there is at least a 51% chance that the gun owner may commit a crime at some point in the future. But the government doesn't have to specify what that crime would be. In fact, they don't have to charge a gun owner with any crime to get a confiscation warrant under this bill...

It would then be up to the disarmed gun owner to convince a judge that they are not dangerous. Forget about "innocent until proven guilty." This legislation literally presumes that gun owners are guilty until proven innocent. And if a gun owner cannot convince a judge to restore their gun rights, then the disarmament order is extended for at least half a year.

Again, all of this happens without the gun owner even being accused of committing a crime...

This bill is flagrantly unconstitutional. It would literally turn the right to keep and bear arms into a privilege that can be revoked at any time.

And now, your colleagues want to rush it through. They want to be able to prove to their constituents that they "did something" on guns. Except in this scenario, "doing something" means eliminating our 2nd Amendment rights!

They are going to try to push this bill through the Judiciary Committee tomorrow. Then, they hope to send it to the floor and pass it into law. If that happens, I will hold you personally responsible.

You swore an oath to defend the 2nd Amendment, not help the Constitution's enemies chip away at it...

You cannot allow this or any other confiscation bill to pass. I don't care what it takes, you must kill this bill!
